Manus challenges Buakaw - Muay Thai

Manus, won gold at the 2004 and silver at the 2008 Olympics Games, said he liked Muay Thai after a recent exhibition match in his home province of Ratchaburi. He  is now a changed man and has been training hard for a successful career in the country's traditional martial art.

Manus challenges Buakaw

Bangkokpost reports:
He ridiculed a reported match-up between Muay Thai superstar Buakaw Banchamek  and Filipino Manny Pacquiao, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in international boxing.
"Who will pay about 90 million baht to bring Pacquiao to fight here?" Manus asked.
He said it would be risky for Buakaw to face a fighter who is good at punching because he could be fragile to the weapon.
"Everybody knows this fight cannot be happen because Buakaw has a fight on December and it is illegal to fight within 15 days"
"Everybody in Thailand's boxing circle knows that Buakaw cannot be punched," Manus said.
"I don't know who raised the idea of pitting him against Pacquiao."
" The possible dream fight should be Buakaw vs Somluck .But look like Buakaw was afraid of Somluck in both international boxing and Muay Thai rules "
He then challenged Buakaw to fight him instead.
"If there is anyone who is interested in promoting a fight between Buakaw and me although my body is not in good condition as Buakaw, I am ready to give him a few boxing lessons," he said.

I prefer Buakaw than Manus and I think he just want to be  famous again by fight with Buakaw.

Buakaw's existing contract with Thai Fight

October 8, 2012. Mr. Nopparat Puttarattamamane disclosed that Sport Art Co. Ltd., the organiser of Thai Fight, holds all rights to decide which fights Buakaw will participate in until  December 31, 2012. Under Buakaw's existing contract with them, anyone who wishes to arrange for Buakaw to participate in any fight will have to go through Sport Art Co. & seek their approval first.

In addition, Sport Art Co.'s key policy is for Buakaw to act as an ambassador for Muaythai to popularise the sport around the world, as he is well-known internationally. Therefore, Buakaw will fight only against foreign opponents and not Thai opponents. As such, a fight with Somrak Kamsing, the 39-year-old former Olympic gold medalist who recently issued Buakaw a challenge in the news, is impossible. Thai Fight also thinks that it is improper for them to fight, as regardless of whether Buakaw wins or loses, it will be not be good for his image.

As for news reports claiming that Buakaw will fight Manny Pacquiao in a Western-style boxing match on  December
21, 2012 in Thailand, Sport Art Co., which has the full power to decide who Buakaw fights until the end of 2012, had never known about this proposed fight before. In any case, Sport Art Co. thinks that the chances of it happening are close to nil. This is because Manny is scheduled to fight with Marquez on  December 8, 2012, & Buakaw is required to fight in the final round of Thai Fight 2012 on  December 16, 2012. Buakaw will violate the Boxing Act if he takes part in a fight less than 15 days after his previous one.

The first round of Thai Fight 2012 will be held on  October
23, 2012 at Chanchai Acadium, Bangkokthonburi University. It will be followed by a second round on 25 November 2012 in Nakhon Ratchasima. The finals on  December 16,2012 will be held at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok. The  October
23, 2012 event will feature Singmanee Kaewsamrit in the 67 kg division and Buakaw in the 70 kg division. It will be telecast live from 1:20PM onwards on Thai Channel 3. Petchtanong Banchamek, Buakaw's main student who recently clinched the WBC muay thai championship belt, & whom Buakaw is grooming to be his successor, will also put on a show of his skills together with foreign fighters. There are plans for Petchtanong to take part in Thai Fight 2013, which will have the format of a reality show involving both Thai & foreign fighters. This is to give the audience an insight into their lives & showcase Thai culture & traditions to the world.

Buakaw eyes two fights to cap final glory

Bangkokpost reported:

The two time K-1 MAX champion  Buakaw Banchamek  will defend his Thai Fight welterweight title in Bangkok on Oct 23 and then cap off his sterling career with a super-fight against Italian K1 hot shot Giorgio Petrosyan.

Buakaw will fight Giorgio Petrosyan

"
Muay Thai superstar Buakaw Por Pramuk will defend his Thai Fight title on October.
Speaking to reporters at the KO Promotions seminar in Dubai last weekend, Buakaw, 30, said his next two fights on Thai soil would be "to honour Thailand and for all my fans."
Buakaw and Singmanee Sor Srisomphong are the two Thai top guns who will represent Thailand in the Thai Fight finals.
Buakaw said,"I support Thai Fight because it is shown on TV around Thailand and all my Thai fans can watch me fight. I also want to do a special fight event in Surin where I come from and where I first learnt to fight Muay Thai when I was young. It is good to remember where I come from," Buakaw said.
Although he's training up to six hours a day, Buakaw said he's moved on from the grind of fighting against elite competition at Bangkok's stadiums.
"Lumpinee and Rajadamnern have the best young stars with their future still ahead of them. I've been fighting from the age of seven. I have moved on and won't be fighting much more in Thailand and looking to become a travelling trainer. I really like teaching Muay Thai in other countries. It's great for Thailand and good for me," he said.
Buakaw confirmed that negotiations had been held with 26-year-old Petrosyan to fight in Surin. The only stumbling block for the fight is that Petrosyan prefers to fight K1 rules without elbows, knees and grappling weapons.
And while Buakaw is a K1 master  having won two K1 Max titles , he knows that Thailand's boxing fraternity would expect full Muay Thai rules as the order of the day for the event to be staged at the Surin provincial stadium on National Muay Thai Day on Feb 6, 2013.
Meanwhile, this Thursday's event at Rajadamnern, apart from featuring a great rivalry match-up between "Diamond Champion" Saenchai PK (Sor Kingstar) and "Black Lion" Singdum Kiatmoo 9, is creating a lot of hoopla with 1996 Olympic boxing champion Somluck Kamsing set to fight veteran Yodwanpadet Suwanwichit for a reported winner-takes-all purse of 5,270,000 baht.
As a sign of how serious this fight is, a deposit of 1,054,000 baht has already been tabled that will go the fighter whose opponent fails to make it into the ring.
Somluck said he has never trained harder for either an international boxing or a Muay Thai contest and intends to keep fighting if he wins the big purse.
He's challenged Buakaw to fight him saying that the Thai idol never fights strong opposition.
Buakaw replied that he has never shirked any fighter matched against him, but questioned whether the fans would want him to fight Somluck. "I don't think it would be that good. He should look elsewhere and so will I," Buakaw said "
