NOKWEED DAVEY NOKWEED DAVEY - THAILAND CHAMPION AT THREE DIFFERENT WEIGHTS

NOKWEED DAVEY

NOKWEED DAVEY , famous for his leg and high head kicks has a notorious reputation throughout Thailand

I've seen him fought a couple of times. He did fought Jorome Labbaner a while back in Japan, I think it must of been the first K1 that was held there. I must say. IT was very exciting to watch. The weight different between the two must of been at least 60lbs. You can actually see, every time Jorome would hit Nukweed, his body would jolt back, and his body would fly back. On one occasion, Nukweed mouthpeace flew out by Labbaner's power, but Nukweed stood strong, and he would answer with a low leg cut kick at labbanner with an amazing timing. By the middle of the third round, he bleeded Labbanner's nose, and he was comming on strong at labbanner, but the round ended. I think if had been a 5 round fights, Nukweed would of won the fight for sure. Awsome bout. The other fight was against another French fighter( this time at his weight class). Nukweed won, but by the look of physical body compare to the fight he had against Labbanner, I don't think he even train. "

WMC Champions – Yodsanklai

WMC Champions – Yodsanklai

Yodsanklai,  one of Thailand’s biggest exports, has been a legend in muaythai for many years and is a two-time Lumpinee champion.
Yodsanklai shot to international fame when he appeared on The Contender Asia, the award winning reality TV show, sanctioned by the WMC in which he for 15 weeks showed as much character as he did talent.
In the end in a thrilling final beat out JWP from Australia to become the Contender Asia champion claiming a total purse of nearly 200,000 USD and also became the WMC World Champion.
He defended the WMC World Title twice, most recently stopping Vladimir Moravcik in his home town silencing the sell-out crowd.
In 2009 Cosmo Alexandre was the first foreigner to win the prestigious King’s Cup sanctioned by the WMC and in 2010 Thailand sent in Yodsanklai to reclaim the cup and it was Yodsanklai who met the King’s Cup champion Cosmo in the final after which Yodsanklai reclaimed the cup back for Thailand.

Muay Thai towards Olympic Recognition

Muay Thai towards Olympic Recognition

Muaythai is going for IOC recognition. It has been a long road but April 3 will mark another historic day
in the history and future of muaythai. The world Govening Body for Professional Muaythai (WMC), the
international Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA), recognised by SportAccord, the Olympic Council
of Asia and the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage have joined forces to
officially apply for IOC recognition and membership. The WMC was established in 1995 under the
directive of the Royal Thai Government to foster and promote the sport and art of muaythai. The Royal
Thai Government is in full support of the lOC recognition process and the Prime Minister of Thailand has
donated a special cup to the event and will be part of the event, together with the Deputy Prime
Minister, Tourism & Sports Minister and Culture Minister. The President of the Thai NOC, SAT and many
other government departments will be joining as VIPs.
IFMA is the World Federation to promote amateur muaythai to the highest level and has been a partner
of the WMC since its inauguration. General Pichitr Kullavanijaya, Privy Councillor of His Majesty the King,
the honorary President of the WMC and the President of the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand
which is under Royal Patronage, is also the President of IFMA. Muaythai under IFMA is included in many
multi-sports games, was recognised by the Olympic Council of Asia in 1998, and with an overwhelming
majority vote in 2006, was included in SportAccord, a partner of the IOC, the umbrella organisation for
all sports. Muaythai under IFMA is also part of the World Combat Games, also under patronage of the
IOC, in which fifteen Olympic and non-Olympic combat sports work together under the umbrella of
SportAccord. IFMA is the only federation which can apply for IOC membership and inclusion in other
important multi-sports games, for example, the World Games or University Games.

A special gala event will be held and attended by the President of SportAccord, Mr. Hein Verbruggen,
the President of the International World Games Association, Mr. Ron Froehlich, and IOC member Dr. C.
K. Wu, who is also the President of AIBA, along with many others. These distinguished visitors highlight
the respect and recognition muaythai has achieved within the international sporting community.

“Kick the Habit” Challenge a SAAMF Success!

Kick the Habit

As many of you know, July 18th was Nelson Mandela’s birthday. The WMC and IFMA member SAAMF celebrated this momentous day with the 67 Minute “KICK THE HABIT” Muaythai Challenge. Three of the federation’s development Muaythai champions kicked pads for the entire 67 minutes to help raise funds for the Muaythai Against Drugs Foundation, to which they belong.
The three boys, Akhona Mngibisa aged 18 (South African Middleweight Champion), Mkhululi Mlanjeni aged 15 (South African Flyweight Champion) & Monwabisi Qampa aged 12, managed a grand total of 7756 kicks and managed to raise R15 000 for the Muaythai Against Drugs Foundation.
We would like to thank the three boys for their hard work, as well as everyone who came to help with support and hold pads for them. SAAMF in particular would also like to thank Knead Bakery for supplying the boys with some of the best healthy baked foods to keep them going, and last but not least, Ryan Berkowitz, Jannie Schoeman, PSS, McCarthy’s Auto Trimmers & Schekters Organic Energy Drink, for their financial & product contributions.
“Wow, these kids made my heart pump! Seeing them give their all for the full 67 minutes without stopping just reminds me more as to why I set up and run the Muaythai Against Drugs Foundation”  Sifu Kru Quentin ‘Dragon’ Chong – Director of the Muaythai Against Drugs Foundation South Africa.
This will be an annual event in South Africa from now on, and we challenge all of you out there, corporate or private, to get involved and help us make these kids’ dreams come true.

UK entrepreneur Hearn latches onto Muay Thai

British sports event entrepreneur Barry Hearn flew into Bangkok last weekend and clinched a deal with BEC Tero director Brian Marcar to stage seven Muay Thai world titles at the Battle for the Belts II to be staged in London in October.
The event will be televised live in Europe and Thailand.
Hearn has pioneered world snooker championships and professional darts events as well as the Prize Fighter Boxing Series and he now views Muay Thai as the next big wave for combat fighting.
While in Bangkok, Hearn said he had been impressed with the elite quality and professionalism of both Thai and foreign fighters who won the inaugural Battle for the Belts event held last month at Muang Thong Thani's Impact Arena.
Hearn intends to bill the London event as the "Magnificient Seven of Muay Thai _ the ultimate stand-up martial art."
Already Hearn has set up a meeting with representatives of over 200 affiliated Muay Thai training gyms in the UK and is looking for the best British fighters to battle for glory at the super seven WBC Muay Thai championships.
Hearn is looking at having at least three top British challengers fired up to win in front on their "home" London stage soon after the Olympics.
Some of the world title match-ups that Hearn is discussing with BEC Tero includes assigning the best British challengers to fight the top two WBC Thai champions _ Sakeddao Petchpayatai (super-lightweight) and Kem Sitsongpeenong (super-welterweight).
Sakkeddao is likely to fight UK star Greg Wotton and Kem will go up against top British contender Jordon Watson.
Outstanding reigning French welterweight champion Fabio Pinca is expected to do battle against the "British Lion" Liam Harisson.
The main event will feature Steve Wakeling, the Muay Thai pride of Great Britain.
Wakeling fought a draw with Russia's light-heavyweight champion Artem Levin two weeks ago.
And either Levin or American Joe Shilling can be billed to fight Wakeling for the Battle for the Belts II to unify the WBC Muay Thai world light-heavyweight title.
Wakeling is a former WBC middleweight champion who also won the S1 Championship in Bangkok when he was fighting as a super-welterweight.
The British star has relished going up the weight divisions to fight as a light-heavyweight, which suits his style of repetitious punch/knee/kick strikes.
After dominating the light-heavyweight division for several years, Levin now finds himself being hotly challenged by both Schilling and Wakeling.
Levin withdrew from a title fight against the aggressive Schilling, and is now wary of Wakeling who many believe beat him in a recent London draw decision.
Levin will most likely be given the opportunity to fight Wakeling for the WBC title in the Battle for the Belts but will eventually have to fight Schilling who won the interim title while Levin was recovery from surgery to overcome a knee lock ailment.
Another titan showdown is looming in the super-cruiserweight division with Russia's Ramazan Ramazanov likely to challenge Australian world champion Steve McKinnon.
Wakeling will start as warm favourite to win against either Levin or Schilling and Harrison will have a good chance of beating Pinca.
BEC Tero is in talks with event organises in Japan, the US and Australia with a plan to have a calendar of six Battle for the Belts events every year.

Por Pramuk camp will withdraw their lawsuit against Buakaw

On 2 July 2012, the five defendants being sued by Por Pramuk camp met at the Civil Court at Ratchadapisek for arbitration. They are: Mr. Noppon Wathin (the organiser of Thai Fight), Mr. Wisanu Am-Anand (the Thai Fight promoter), Acting Lt. Teerawat Yioyim (Buakaw's sports science trainer), Mr. Sombat Banchamek (Buakaw), & the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Por Pramuk camp will withdraw their lawsuit against Buakaw, the Thai Fight promoter & SAT, in return for the Thai Fight organiser dropping his 200 million baht counter-lawsuit against the camp, in order to bring the problem to an end.

It was reported in the evening news that from now on, Buakaw is free to fight in Muay Thai again, including in Thai Fight and other events. He has to use "Buakaw Por Pramuk" as his fight name, but is free to train on his own at his own camp, and accept offers to fight. At the same time, Por Pramuk camp will also receive fight opportunities for Buakaw too. 60% of fight earnings will go to Buakaw,  40% to the camp. Income from public appearances, advertising & promotions will be divided 75:25 (75% to Buakaw, 25% to the camp), but if Buakaw engages in these activities without the involvement of Por Pramuk camp, he will receive the full sum.

On 2 July 2012, Mr. Dej Jaikla (the Director & Registrar of the Sports Authority of Thailand's Board of Boxing Sport), Mr. Nopparat Puttarattamamane (Thai Fight representative), Dr. Theppakorn Intharapat (Buakaw's lawyer), Mr. Wiwat Saengsuriya (Por Pramuk camp's lawyer) & Mr. Teeraphat Rojanathan (owner of Por Pramuk camp) met for arbitration at the Civil Court at Ratchadapisek.

After the arbitration meeting that lasted for almost 7 hours, the court decided to acquit all parties and ordered that Buakaw,
Sombat Banchamek be allowed to box again. Buakaw will have to use 'Buakaw Por Pramuk' as his fight name, but He has to train on his own. 60% of fight earnings will go to Buakaw,  40% to the Por Pramuk camp. Income from all activities other than boxing will be divided  (75% to Buakaw, 25% to the Por Pramuk camp).

As for the 6-month suspension imposed on Buakaw by the Registrar of the Board of Boxing Sport, the court decided that the Sports Authority of Thailand's the Board of Boxing Sport shall find a solution that will allow Buakaw to continue boxing after the court acquitted him.

Mr. Dej said that the court felt that Buakaw has brought fame to the nation and Muay Thai ,He is an asset to the country, thus decided to acquit him in order to let him continue to fight and make a name for Thailand.

This is good news, I am excited that Buakaw will be free to continue competing in Muay Thai .

Buakaw had asked the Sports Authority of Thailand's Board of Boxing Sport to reduce the 6-month suspension

It was reported 2 days ago that Buakaw had asked the Sports Authority of Thailand's Board of Boxing Sport to 'reduce' the 6-month suspension imposed on him, but the Board refused to 'reduce' this suspension by even one day.*

[* Buakaw had in fact appealed for this suspension to be revoked as he felt that he was innocent. He did not appeal for it to be shortened.]

Many are wondering what is the point of Buakaw asking for the suspension to be 'reduced' - he has already announced to the whole country that he has retired from boxing, so why is he still making noise over this?

As for Buakaw switching to fighting in MMA in Macau*, Mr. Pramuk Rojanathan, the owner of Por Pramuk camp, confirmed that he will not agree to this & will sue Buakaw whenever he fights.

[* He was training in Hong Kong, not Macau. It has not been confirmed that he will fight in MMA:http://bit.ly/L6RpaS ]

The problem between Buakaw & Mr. Pramuk is like water & oil, the two will never come together. The only way that Buakaw will ever get to fight again is to find a rich person to buy him from his 'first owner'. Mr. Pramuk confirmed that anyone who wants to buy Buakaw for less than 20 million baht can forget about even trying to negotiate. This is because there are still 5 years left on Buakaw's contract, & Buakaw can fight many times in this duration.

Many people worry that there will be disadvantages if this matter drags on for a long time. Buakaw is getting old & over time his body will not be as able. The human body will wear out with age if used like a machine. If Buakaw does not compromise now, he will lose the opportunity.

Buakaw denied that he is going to fight in MMA

29 June 2012. Buakaw denied that he is going to fight in MMA. This is after rumours of him switching to MMA spread online, based on photos of him learning & training MMA in Hong Kong.

The Banchamek Gym facebook page has been showing photos of Buakaw training in MMA. As a result, sources have said that Buakaw will switch to fighting in a sport that is not controlled by the law [Boxing Act] after retiring from muaythai. This is because the Sports Authority of Thailand's Board of Boxing Sport has suspended him from boxing for 6 months after he fought in the Thai Fight event on 17 April 2012 without the permission of Por Pramuk camp. Buakaw had also announced his retirement from muaythai at the end of May after failing to resolve his problems with Por Pramuk camp.

Buakaw confirmed that he has not decided whether or not to pursue MMA. He was in Hong Kong only at the invitation of a gym there to train his fitness in a more complete way. 'I still want to fight muaythai forever,' Buakaw declared at an interview with Channel 7 at Mor Chit this morning. As for the photos [of him training in MMA], learning other sports is just one part of his training, & muaythai is still his foundation & core. 'Muaythai is still in my bloodline', Buakaw said.
As for the Board of Boxing Sport's decision to uphold his 6-month suspension from 17 May 2012 to 17 November 2012, Buakaw said that he is ready to ask the Administrative Court to issue a temporary order [against the suspension] based on his claim that he would have broken his contract [with the organiser of Thai Fight] if he did not fight in the 17 April 2012 event.*

[* Buakaw would have been fined 1.5 million baht if he did not fight in that event: http://on.fb.me/KHSTCi ]

New contract that Buakaw did not agree to sign
Buakaw can fight in Muay Thai again !!

New contract that Buakaw did not agree to sign

The new contract that Buakaw did not agree to sign:

New contract that Buakaw did not agree to sign

[Notes/comments are added in square brackets.]

1. The head of Por Pramuk camp accepts Buakaw as the camp's fighter, but allows Buakaw to train on his own elsewhere.

2. Buakaw will represent Por Pramuk camp & no other camp.

3. Buakaw will use the fight name 'Buakaw Por Pramuk'.

4. This new contract will last from 22 May 2012 to 5 November 2018.

[It is to cover the remaining duration of the existing 8-year contract that Buakaw had signed with the camp back in 2010. This new contract is meant to supercede Buakaw's existing contract.]

5. Buakaw's earnings from fights will be split 60:40 (60% to Buakaw, 40% to the camp).

6. Buakaw's income from advertising, public appearances, & all forms of sponsorship will be split 75:25 (75% to Buakaw, 25% to the camp).

7. Any contracts for activities mentioned in clauses 5 & 6 must be agreed upon & signed by both Buakaw & the camp in order for them to be considered valid, & a contract that offers higher benefits must be accepted over one that offers lower benefits. In addition, for advertising for (the sponsor) Boon Rawd Brewery & its group (of companies), Buakaw must be paid no less than what they had paid him in the past.

8. All of the income will be shared according to this contract starting from the date on which it is signed, until 5 November 2018.

9. Both parties must travel & attend all events together, be it within Thailand or overseas. Travel expenses for both parties will be covered by the party that arranged to participate in the event.

[E.g. If Buakaw accepts - with the permission of Por Pramuk camp - an invitation extended to him to fight, he must pay for Por Pramuk camp to travel together with him to the event.]

10. Por Pramuk camp will drop their lawsuit against Buakaw* in return for Buakaw cancelling his request to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to terminate his existing contract with the camp**, & the camp will withdraw their objection against his participation in the 17 April 2012 Thai Fight event that they filed with the SAT.***

[* Does not mention dropping the lawsuit against Buakaw's sports science trainer Mr. Teerawat Yioyim, or Sport Art. Co.]

[** In Buakaw's letter to the SAT on 26 March 2012 requesting to terminate his contract with Por Pramuk camp, he said that the camp owes him 3 million baht. This clause implies that the entire debt that the camp owes him will be waived.]

[*** Withdrawing the objection could allow SAT's Board of Boxing Sport to cancel the 6-month suspension.]

11. Buakaw must contact Por Pramuk's lawyer regarding any contract/agreement (for activities mentioned in clauses 5 & 6) that he wants to accept.

12. Any party who makes an agreement without the other party's permission will be fined 2 million baht. This applies to activities mentioned in clauses 5 & 6. Buakaw must agree for this clause [clause 12] to apply retroactively to cover the period from 1 March 2012 to 22 May 2012.

[It effectively means that Por Pramuk camp wants to fine Buakaw 2 million baht for fighting in Thai Fight on 17 April 2012.]
_________________

Buakaw wants Por Pramuk camp to drop their lawsuit against his sports science trainer, Mr. Teerawat Yioyim, before he will sign this new contract with the camp.

There are also many details of this contract that need to be clarified & even changed before it can be signed.

Maj. Gen. Intharat decided to give both parties more time to examine the details of the new contract before they sign it, & so they will all meet again on 31 May 2012.

The educational history of Mr. Sombat Banchamek (Buakaw Por Pramuk)

I saw the educational history of Buakaw from Buakaw fan page.I hope you guy like it

The educational history of Mr. Sombat Banchamek

Mr. Sombat Banchamek was born on 8 May 1982. He started the first semester of his first year of secondary education (Matthayom 1, or first year of junior high school) in 1995, at Ban Non Sawan School in Kor Kaew subdistrict, Samrongthab district of Surin province. His registration as a student for secondary education was taken care of by his parents Mr. Seng Banchamek & Mrs. Pan Banchamek.

Regarding the controversy over when exactly Mr. Sombat Banchamek first started living at Por Pramuk camp, it is clear from his educational history that he completed his secondary education (Matthayom 3, or third year of junior high school) in his home district of Surin province in March 1998, in the year which he turned 16 years of age. This agrees with what his elder sister said in an interview with the 'Khon Khon Khon' TV programme, that Mr. Sombat Banchamek left home to live at the camp when he was about 14 or 15 years old. The majority of students in the graduating class at this secondary school would be about this age too. This is a copy of the record of his registration as a student according to the Ministry of Education.

Buakaw Update 2 July 2012

15 June 2012. Buakaw issued a statement through his lawyer regarding Por Pramuk camp's lawsuit. The camp had filed this lawsuit against Buakaw claiming 100 million baht in damages after he fought in Thai Fight at Pattaya on 17 April 2012.

Buakaw believes that he was right to fight on 17 April 2012. This is because on 31 October 2010, the head of Por Pramuk camp, Mr. Teeraphat Rojanathan (Au), had brought him to sign a contract with Sport Art Co., the organiser of Thai Fight. This contract specifies that Buakaw has to fight in Thai Fight events for 2 years until December 2012. Mr. Teeraphat had signed as a witness on this contract, & so Por Pramuk camp understood that they had signed over all rights to grant Buakaw the permission to fight - including in Thai Fight events - to Sport Art Co. for 2 years in this contract. If Buakaw did not fight in Thai Fight as required by the contract, he would be fined 1.5 million baht for breach of contract.

In addition to the lawsuit, Por Pramuk camp had also filed a request for a court injunction to block Buakaw from boxing & appearing in any form of advertising until the lawsuit is settled. This request is scheduled to be heard by the court on 2 July 2012. Buakaw has already registered his objection to this request. He had already announced his retirement from boxing in front of the Registrar of the Board of Boxing Sport & the media on 31 May 2012. Furthermore, he has also submitted a letter [to the Board of Boxing Sport] requesting that his status as a boxer be revoked. Under the law, he would not be able to box again without this official status as a boxer.*

[* Hence there is no longer a need for a court injunction to block him from boxing.]

As for appearing in advertisements or shows, this is unrelated to boxing. Buakaw should have the freedom to pursue these activities, & he has to work in order to earn a living & support his father & other relatives. [Referring to the terms of his existing contract with the camp] Buakaw said, 'Even if I want to set up a stall & sell larb or somtam*, I will have to ask the camp for permission first, right? & I must share this income with the camp too?'

[* larb - spicy salad of minced meat & herbs, somtam - Thai spicy papaya salad.]

The new contract with Por Pramuk camp that Buakaw refused to sign [on 31 May 2012] has been publicised online. The majority of the people who have seen it say that if this contract is indeed real, there are several clauses that are totally unfair to Buakaw & this is probably what caused him to announce that he would quit boxing.
